Men, women and children from the Lowcountry and as far away as Pennsylvania came to watch planes from various historical eras fly over North Charleston.

These aircraft included World War II fighter jets, various aerobatic aircraft, C-17s that call Joint Base Charleston home, and the famous US Navy Blue Angels.

Lowcountry resident John Surratt, who served six years in the Army, was looking forward to seeing the Blue Angels take off.

"I've never seen the Blue Angels, and that was the main reason I wanted to come here to see the Blue Angels," he said. "I have never seen them. I've heard rumors about them, but I've never seen them in person, so I'll be here today to see them in person.”
