best subcompact gun

Best Subcompact Gun - John Moses Browning knew what he was doing when he designed the classic 1911 pistol. Law enforcement, military, shooters, and civilian defenders all know and appreciate the complexities, features, and performance of the 1911. Although originally available in .45 ACP caliber and full-size models, today there are many different calibers and sizes. 1911. To each their own preference, but I like the 9mm 1911 and its small footprint for concealed carry purposes and regular close tactical encounters. Calibers, sight types, grips, beaver tails and more. there are many options. I want to share comparisons and ratings of the last 8 best performing and easily concealable 1911 mini 9mm pistols.

09/01 Why a compact 9mm compact 1911 for concealed carry? Ease of concealment, ergonomics, recoil control, performance and shot placement - KING!

Over the past year, I've reviewed a number of compact 1911 9mms for concealed carry. In-depth reviews of each of the eight 1911 subcompacts for this study are also available individually on this website. There are several great companies that make 9mm 1911s, and quite a few people carry them every day.

S&w M&p Subcompact 9mm Pistol [2021 Review]

I love their small, lightweight profile for concealed carry, comfortable thin grip, great single-action triggers, excellent performance, and 1911 ergonomics that fit my hand just right on average. My wife loves them for their little hands and back control.

I definitely like the 1911 9mm single action triggers, they are consistently short, smooth and crisp. Given the low bore shaft and controlled muzzle rise and recoil, the ability to shoot “out of the box” is excellent. These 1911s made up for my shortcomings and helped me shoot better.

For concealed carry, I've switched from a .45 ACP 1911 to a mini-compact 1911, single stack 9mm, which is controlled (the 9mm gives less movement to help my accuracy) and concealable. Out of the many on the market, I have selected and tested 8 concealed carry straps and wanted to share my thoughts and evaluations on them with you. I tested and shot at least 200 rounds out of eight during this review. In addition to the basic features of the 1911, each has its own characteristics and pros and cons. Some have fiber optic sights, while others have tritium night sights or 3-dot white sights. Some have rounded butts to help lift, while others have rounded butts at the top of the slide to reduce flare or a flared or slanted bore. Some have fine 25 LPI frames on the front and rear straps to help with tight grip, while others have G-10 grips and trigger guards. I want to share my facts and opinions to help you choose a concealable 1911 pistol.

In recent years, the 1911 has been redesigned and engineered for the 9mm caliber by many of today's manufacturers. Feeding, ejecting or ejecting problems are rare now, and the improved magazines feed the 9mm cartridge well. Of course, like any defensive handgun, these have the potential for problems. So in this article, I looked at the new 9mm 1911 pistols and where there were problems, whether it was concealed carry issues, customer service or other issues and the MSRP of the 1911 was not addressed. guns are usually $1,700 or more. Some manufacturers offer an MSRP of $3,000 or more for a small compact 1911, so they were not included in my research. Define your criteria for 1911 reviews, identify the features you personally want, test before you buy, and compare and rank 1911 concealment pistols accordingly.

In addition to proven accuracy, reliability, and its price, I wanted to find a small compact pistol that met all or most of the necessary features and specifications for a concealed carry 1911 pistol:

Since my defensive concealed carry pistol is primarily for close encounters, the sights aren't a big deal, mostly because in close combat, I can shoot in tactical situations or not use my sights at all. However, the visuals are definitely distracting. I prefer the tritium night sights and the green fiber optic sight over the white 3 dots. Cost is a consideration but not a major factor or deal breaker for me as this self defense gun is used to protect my life and the lives of my loved ones. I did a review here , but the MSRP for 1911 9mm pistols is less than $1,700. because it can be taken as evidence and the case can be appealed and cannot be returned before the years have passed than the alternative of reasonable prices. If necessary, I will save my money until I get a custom self defense gun with the features, specs and performance I want to protect my life.

All eight concealed carry 1911 9mm pistols that were tested and rated in this 2018 study were pretty evenly matched on all the variables I selected. After much research and feedback from experienced individuals and certified instructors, I chose a small 1911 kit to review. They are all great 1911's, the best of the best in my opinion by my standards. One or more of the ten factors were separated for ranking purposes, as you will see below. That's why these eight pistols I had for review and hands-on testing are excellent concealed carry and self-defense pistols. I think you can't go wrong with whichever one you choose. The only possible solution: buy them all. (I want!)

For field testing, I used the same Concealed Drill (My CC Drill - found on the websites listed below), range, targets, course of fire, number of rounds fired, same hollow point and full metal jacket Sig Sauer 365 ammo, shot. Position, two-handed grip, arming and reloading procedure and more to test eight 1911 pistols.

The Best Concealed Carry Gun

For this study and the range field tests, I standardized the drilling procedure (I used a Col Ben concealed drill to test all 1911s) and chose a single brand of ammo (Sig 365) to use in all my tests in both the JHP and FMJ. guns . I wanted to know how all 1911's perform with the same ammo. Many thanks to Sig Sauer for supplying the new short barreled 365 ammo for these field tests. I shot 30 JHP and FMJ Sig Sauer 365s for each of the 8 1911 pistols. In each of the 1911s, I fired 15 rounds of brand new Sig Sauer 365 V-Crown 9mm JHP in 115-grain 3.1-inch CCW ammo, optimized for a velocity of 1,050 ft/sec and a muzzle energy of 282 ft-lb. . I also shot 15 rounds of the new Sig Sauer 365 Elite 9mm FMJ in each of the 1911s in a 115-grain 3.1-inch barrel with identical velocity and power. (Do your own testing with many other rounds to decide.)

This Sig 365 ammo is the perfect type to use for these compact short 1911 pistols. It comes in defense (JHP) and practice (FMJ) rounds, and they back off lightly. Since both rounds have the same velocity and energy, shooters can switch between the two, and the recoil, muzzle rise, and point are all very similar. All but eight of the 1911s (the anomaly) handled this ammunition very well. I used my usual modified isosbelly stance with a "Col Ben's Concealed Carry Drill" at 7 yards with a two-handed draw from concealed carry. Note that I started the drill at 7 meters instead of the usual 3 meters for more of a challenge. Please understand that this brief field test is only a partial representation of the accuracy, reliability, handling and performance of these subcompact 1911 pistols, so test your range with more ammunition and practice.

For the first 300 to 500 rounds, it's best to break in a new gun with FMJ or ball ammo, but you should also see how your concealment handles the JHP defensive round.

I used the above 10 evaluation factors to evaluate each of the eight 1911 pistols and gave each one my subjective rating (on a 3-point scale) strictly for concealed carry purposes. In the past, I have reviewed each of them individually and written my review of each gun on this site. Because the 1911s selected for study are so good, some are ranked equally here. After all the individual factor ratings, I'll give overall ten factor scores for the smaller guns. Remember, these are my opinions.
